MAINFRAME MACHINERY

the latest edition of the bitley fairlight and synclavier series, equally dividing about 10GB into these five chunks:

  • Reason (nnxt, comb, europa, redrum)
  • Kontakt (nki)
  • Ableton (sampler)
  • Logic (exs)
  • Any DAW / etc (WAV & AIFF)

file size is over 10 GB & contains over 28,000 files

We’ve opted for a text-adventure based approach—not because it’s solely about text, but because we prioritize functionality over flashy visuals. Going through these sounds is extremely nice as they have a clarity and character all uniquely raw / cool, think Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and Art Of Noise.

Sounds include drum kits, basses, all sorts of synthesizers, voices, strings, effects, pads, everything with a very solid vintage foundation.

However, if you explore the additional Combinator patches, you’ll find them visually appealing and beautifully crafted with lots of intricate and modern programming.

This library is all about capturing the authentic experience of working with a true mainframe sampler, like the Fairlight CMI or Synclavier in the mid-1980s. All those iconic sounds are here. And all of our additions, and they’re so many this turns out to most likely be the largest CMI sound library in the world.

Some sounds may not be perfect right out of the box—you might need to tweak them a little to fit your track. Release and attack times can sometimes require adjustment.

All future updates to this library will be completely free for all users—forever. Because if you spend on my work I will spend time for your creativity. However, we will eventually also release pro level sound & sample pack additions. For demo music check out our fairlight kontakt and WBF R2™ demo trax!
